The fight for promotion and to escape the relegation axe at the end of the season will continue among the teams campaigning under the auspices of the Motsepe Foundation Championship League this weekend. Three matches will be played on Friday afternoon, with the remaining five scheduled for Saturday afternoon.

This weekend will be a busy one for the teams affiliated to the Limpopo Stream of the ABC Motsepe League. After donating points to their opponents in the opening match against Emmanuel FC, to whom they had lost 0-1 at the Giyani Stadium last Saturday, United Artists will be on the road again this weekend.

After defeating Marumo Gallants 3-2 in their Motsepe Foundation Championship League match at Thohoyandou Stadium last Saturday, Black Leopards aim to add more points to their league account when they face NB La Masia FC at Bidvest Stadium in Johannesburg on Friday afternoon.

The 23^rd edition of the Zama-Zama Sports Challenge was officially launched during a ceremony held at the Xilumani Hotel in Giyani last Sunday morning. Thirty-four teams from Mopani and Vhembe Districts will take part in this year’s tournament. The toss for the opening-round fixtures was conducted during the ceremony.

Black Leopards enhanced their chances for promotion when they beat Marumo Gallants 3-2 in their Motsepe Foundation Championship League match at Thohoyandou Stadium last Saturday. The victory means that Black Leopards have yet to lose a match at home under the guidance of Mr Peter Mponda and his assistant, Solly Luvhengo.

Former Black Leopards FC player Jean Djunga Munganga is desperately searching for a job. The 33-year-old defender last played professional football when his employment contract with Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) expired at the end of the 2019/20 soccer season. His stay at TTM was unpleasant as he featured in only five league games.

This weekend marks the start of the ABC Motsepe League activities for the new season. Four matches will be played on Friday afternoon, while the remaining six are scheduled for Saturday afternoon.

While most of the teams affiliated with the Hollywoodbets Super League are left with two matches before the end of the current soccer season, Maindis Ladies will play their last match this weekend. Maindis will wrap up their league programme with an away fixture. They will  visit TUT FC at the TUT Campus Stadium in Pretoria.

Thohoyandou Stadium will be the best place to be on Saturday afternoon. This is the venue where the Motsepe Foundation Championship League match between Black Leopards and Marumo Gallants will take place.

Vhembe’s “granny” soccer team achieved remarkable success by winning the soccer category at the Limpopo Golden Games, defeating the Mopani District team 4-0 in the final. The tournament, designed to engage senior citizens in sporting activities, took place at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on 15 November.

After a two-week break, teams affiliated with the Motsepe Foundation Championship League will be back in action this weekend. Venda Football Club (VFC) is gearing up for another tricky hurdle. They will undertake a journey to Pretoria, where they will lock horns with University of Pretoria FC (Amatuks) at the Absa Tuks Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The new head coach of Venda Football Club (VFC), Mr Duncan Lechesa, is optimistic that his team has the potential to gain promotion to the DStv Premiership Division at the end of the current season. During an interview with him shortly after the team’s league game against Black Leopards at the Thohoyandou Stadium last Saturday, the former Polokwane City head coach said that he was impressed with the team’s performance.

Ronewa Mudzanani was diagnosed with scoliosis, an abnormal lateral curving of the spine resulting from cerebral palsy, when he was just a little boy. However, this did not stop him, and he became an international wheelchair tennis champion.
