Can Winners Park stop Mpheni Defenders?

With only two matches remaining till the end of the season, which of the teams affiliated with the Limpopo Stream of the ABC Motsepe League will qualify for the promotional playoffs and which ones will face the relegation axe is still unclear. The teams will play their second-last league matches this weekend.

The pacesetters, Mpheni Defenders, are leaving no stone unturned in their preparations for their away match to be played at the Westfalia Stadium outside Tzaneen on Saturday afternoon. Winners Park have only pride at stake as they are already out of the relegation zone, lying in the fifth position with 21 points, ten behind Mpheni Defenders. Mpheni Defenders desperately need the three points at stake to enhance their chances of promotion.

The other title chasers, Emmanuel FC, will host Vondwe XI Bullets at the Malamulele Stadium. Should they fail to beat Bullets on Saturday, Emmanuel must forget about promotion. Whether the Bullets' defenders will have the strength to stop Emmanuel’s strikers, Moses Mokasi and Ntsako Nghulele, remains to be seen. Bullets are still in joyous mood after beating Winners Park FC 4-1 at the newly opened Makonde Stadium. Emmanuel must keep an eye on the Bullets’ Talifhani Manyaga and Phathutshedzo Nemagovhani, or else they will be buried alive.

United Artists will have a date with Maruleng Celtic at the Makhuvha Stadium. Madridtas FC will host Munaca FC at the Tshifudi Stadium. Giyani Happy Boys will take on Musina United at the Xikukwani Stadium outside Giyani. Should they fail to beat Happy Boys on Saturday, the road for them as an affiliate of the ABC Motsepe League will come to an end. Musina United is rooted at the bottom of the log.
