Musasenda Big Five win Vision Tournament

After failing to reach the final of the Lumveleni Easter Soccer Tournament at the Ngudza Grounds last Saturday, Musasenda Big Five rose to the occasion and beat Mukula Young Santos 3-0 to lift the Vision Soccer Tournament trophy at the Khubvi Benjie’s Grounds on Sunday. The winner was determined via penalty shootout after a goalless draw at the end of regulation time.

Big Five scored three times from the penalty spot through Tsiko Masikhwa, Tsivhudzo Dzege, and Edzisani Nevhufumba, while Young Santos failed to convert even one. Big Five were presented with R20,000, a floating trophy, and gold medals during a ceremony at the grounds after the final game. Mukula Young Santos went home with R10,000 and silver medals.

The third-placed side, Sambandou United Professionals, received R5,000, while Annel Real Vikings, who finished fourth, were given R2,500. Teams eliminated in the quarter-final round - Gondeni Big Cat, Makhitha Oscar Stars, Makonde FC, and Eagles United - each received a consolation prize of R500.

Tsiko Masikhwa of Big Five was nominated as the best midfielder in the tournament. The best defender’s award went to Remember Mandaha of Young Santos. Moses Masindi of Big Five was presented with the Youngest Player award. The Most Disciplined Player award was presented to Tsivhudzo Dzege of Musasenda Big Five. The captain of Young Santos, Vhahangwele Tshifhango, was also honoured for being the oldest active player in the tournament.
