Black Leopards need to maul Kruger United to move to the top

Black Leopards are confident of beating Kruger United FC when they meet in their Motsepe Foundation Championship League match at Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Despite two key players’ watching from the stands, Black Leopards' head coach, Mr Maxwell Konadu, is adamant that nothing will prevent them from securing all three points against Kruger United.

Lidoda Duvha’s right back, Tebogo Makobela, remains suspended after receiving a red card in their game against JDR Stars at Soshanguve Giant Stadium outside Pretoria three weeks ago. The team’s captain, Thendo Mukumela, was also sent off in their game against Cape Town Spurs at Athlone Stadium in Cape Town last Sunday.

Even though they played the last 25 minutes of the game one man down, Leopards managed to beat Spurs 2-1. Konadu stated that Black Leopards had a deep bench, adding that players such as Ndivhuwo “Segere” Ravhuhali, Sandile Khumalo, and Donald Makgetlwa would step up in the absence of Makobela and Mukumela.

Playing in front of their home crowd on Saturday does not mean Kruger United will be a walk in the park for Black Leopards. Kruger United managed to secure full points in their last two matches, narrowly defeating Cape Town Spurs 1-0 at Kanyamazane Stadium in Nelspruit two weeks ago and then beating Leruma United 4-1 last Saturday.

Kruger United currently sit in ninth position on the log with 11 points after these successive victories. A win against Kruger United on Saturday could elevate Black Leopards to the top of the log. Lidoda Duvha are currently in second place with 17 points, three points behind the leaders, Milford FC.
