Musician Awelani Mathiba, known musically as MasterAwylow, fell in love with music way back in 2012 when he was still just a young boy. His debut album was released three years later, but he went into a period of hibernation. In 2023, however, he returned to the music scene with a brand-new EP, Newroad. He followed this up by releasing a new single last week.

The 23-year-old musician, studio owner, and producer from HaRavele was greatly influenced by his brother, Fhulufhelo Netshipise, and his late father, Elias Mathiba, who both noticed his talent and encouraged him to pursue it.

His passion and thirst to become a recording artist quickly grew. It was no surprise when he released his first project, Better Days, in 2015. After the release of this debut album, he retreated from the limelight, working behind the scenes to produce for other artists.

Eight years later, in 2023, he made a major comeback with the release of  Newroad, an EP created in collaboration with Gucci Mellow. Not stopping there, he recently returned with a powerful new single, Songo Fhela Mbilu, which was released last Thursday (5th).

“I worked on this project with a great musician, Vee Jay. I had always dreamt of collaborating with him, and his voice made all the difference. The result is this fantastic project,” he said.

He added that his new single was about hope in life. “There were times when I walked a tough road, and everything seemed to fall apart, but I held onto hope and never gave up. I'm a testament to the fact that tough times never last, and all we need is to keep hope alive. My message to my fans is that, no matter how hard things are, never give up. Things will get better one day," he said.

His music is available on all digital platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube, under the name Masterawylow and 9nine Media Group.
