After securing their first point of the season in a goalless draw with Durban City at the Thohoyandou Stadium last Sunday, Venda Football Club (VFC) are preparing for another tough encounter as they host Leruma United at the same venue this Saturday.
Both VFC and Leruma United have had a difficult start to the new season. VFC lost their first two league matches before sharing the spoils with Durban City last weekend, while Leruma United are yet to collect a point. They currently sit at the bottom of the log, one spot below VFC.
Mr. Duncan Lechesa, the head coach of VFC, affectionately known as Maunavhathu, believes that their game against Leruma United will mark a turning point in his team’s fortunes.
Leruma United will face a tough challenge on Saturday, particularly in trying to stop VFC’s attacking trio of Thabelo Tshikweta, Kgothatso Mariba, and Onke Moletshe. United will also be without their right back, Kgalema Nkadimeng, who was sent off in their game against Upington City last Saturday.
Elsewhere, Black Leopards will visit Orbit College FC at the Olympia Stadium in Rustenburg on Sunday. Baroka FC will host Kruger United at the Global Stadium in Lebowakgomo, fresh from their first victory of the season, a 1-0 win over Hungry Lions at the Suzuki Stadium in Kimberley last Saturday.
University of Pretoria and Upington City will battle for points at the Mxolisi Dicky Jacobs Stadium in Upington. Other fixtures include JDR Stars vs Casric Stars, Durban City vs Highbury FC, Cape Town Spurs vs Hungry Lions, and Pretoria Callies vs Milford FC.
