Just weeks before the start of the summer holidays, Big Ropza has released his latest single, Riya Venda, which captures the sense of longing for home felt by those working far from their families.
Big Ropza believes the song will resonate with listeners who feel the pull of their roots, offering a musical embrace of Venda’s rich cultural warmth. Translating to “We’re going to Venda,” Riya Venda paints a vivid picture of the region’s beauty, celebrating its warmth, culture, and landscapes that evoke a deep sense of belonging. The song delves into the bittersweet experience of being away from home in Venda and the joy that comes with anticipating a return.
“Riya Venda resonates with anyone who has felt the pull of their roots, offering a reminder of the warmth and joy that await them back home. The song serves as a timely reminder of home, especially as many South Africans look forward to reconnecting with loved ones during the holiday season,” he said.
Big Ropza’s passion for music began at the age of 10, initially as a young dancer. By 13, he was singing in the church choir and learning guitar. Over the years, he has collaborated with notable artists such as Murumba Pitch and Achim, establishing his reputation as a skilled producer.
