2kan RSA's music mends all these broken hearts

A hip-hop artist popularly known as 2kan RSA is quickly making a name for himself in the entertainment industry. His real name is Kanakana Nkhumeleni, and he is 42 years old, hailing from Tswinga village outside Thohoyandou.

2kan RSA’s musical talent started showing at an early age. During his youth at the Faith Mission Maungani and the Full Gospel Church in Tswinga, he was a member of the church choirs and part of the community boys’ choir. With his energy and determination, no one was surprised when he released his first hip-hop album, “Life Goes On,” in 2019, setting a solid foundation for his career.

His debut album was followed by four singles: “Banyala Ko Limpopo,” “Thipa ka Bogaleng,” and “Taba Txa Lapa Laka.” However, his big break came in 2021 with his fourth single, his first in the Amapiano genre, “Otsena Kae.” This single earned him a recording deal with Rwanza Entertainment, releasing his music under the Bolo House Music label.

Not stopping there, as a practicing social worker since 2006, he released his brand new and hot hip-hop album in June 2024, titled “Never Let You Go.” The album features hits such as “Never Let Me Go,” “Dzikani,” “I’ve Got Hope,” “Thizwi Ontsia,” “Together in Love,” “Tsini Baby,” “Tshifhambano Tshavhudi,” and “All Along,” among others.

“Many regard hip-hop music as ordinary, but mine is composed of rich lyrics. Since 2006, I’ve worked as a social worker, assisting many families and individuals with problems. In most of my songs, I sing about the experiences I’ve had dealing with people’s issues. My music serves as a solution to the problems people face in their daily lives. It’s also a kind of therapy I use to mend broken hearts,” he said.
