Gospel lovers in the Vhembe district and beyond will be held spellbound by electrifying performances from beloved gospel artists in the district and some other parts of the country during the Easter weekend.
The Easter Gospel Music Explosion will be held at The Fathers House Ministries International in Mutale on Saturday (31 March). The festival starts at 17:00.
The festival aims to promote local artists from the region, such as Moses Nyatheli, Vanessa Mphanama, Ndivhaleni Musetha, Rofhiwa Manyaga, Huli Mbambale, Newie, and Amanda. The other artists include Putuma Tiso, Sabata Masoka, Pastor Sipho Ngwenya, Nothando, and Thina Zungu.
The event is organised by Veneka Productions, an initiative that aims to promote local artists and hook them up with continental and international shows. According the CEO of Veneka Productions, Pastor Leonard Ratshitanga, they wanted to host the event during the Easter weekend to coincide with the festivities of Easter.
“We have taken the show to Mutale, so that the people in Vhembe could access the gospel entertainment and praise and worship with their beloved artists,” he said.
Last year, just before the Easter weekend, Veneka Productions recorded Putuma Tiso and Sabata Masoka, with their supporting artists, at The Fathers House Ministries International. This event attracted hundreds of gospel fans from all over the country. “We continue to promote South African artists in a bid to establish them in the music industry,” Ratshitanga said.
Tickets are available from Computicket outlets such as Shoprite, U-Save, and Checkers. They sell at R150 (general) and R250 (VIP).

Former Tshakhuma Community Radio Station presenter Abednego Muhali, known by his radio nickname “Mr ooh yeess,” joined Nzhelele-based community radio Nzhelele FM last month. A gifted young hip-hop artist from Mpheni Block C, Rolivhuwa Nyadzane, better known as Blvck Phanda, released his first hip hop EP, “Senseful Echo”, on 30 April, and his fans are already going crazy over it.
A local actor, Nyambeni Robert Munyamela, wants to establish his own production company to train aspiring television actors from the area, enabling them to compete equally with others nationwide.
After observing the many questions that children typically pose to their parents, such as those about love affairs and how to find the right partner, a well-known general medical practitioner in Thohoyandou, Dr Lutendo Samson Muremela, decided to try and answer these in a book.
