Black Leopards ready to maul Cape Town Spurs

Following their superb performance in last Saturday’s game against Durban City, where they secured a 2-1 victory at the Thohoyandou Stadium, Black Leopards are leaving no stone unturned in their preparations for Sunday’s away match against Cape Town Spurs.

Cape Town Spurs are not in the best frame of mind after an unexpected 0-1 loss to Kruger United at the Kanyamazane Stadium in Nelspruit last Saturday.

Leopards will be without their right-back, Tebogo Makobela, on Sunday. The 32-year-old defender is still serving his suspension after receiving a red card in their game against JDR Stars at the Soshanguve Giant Stadium outside Pretoria two weeks ago.

The likes of Tshepo Matsimbi, Amukelani Chauke, and team captain Thendo Mukumela will be expected to step up in Makobela’s absence. Black Leopards’ goalkeeper, Chibwe Mwenya, is also a doubtful starter after he was stretchered off with a neck injury in last Saturday’s game against Durban City.

If Black Leopards manage to collect maximum points against Spurs on Sunday, they could move to the top of the log. Lidoda Duvha are currently in fourth place with 14 points, three points behind the log leaders, Milford FC.

Venda Football Club will enjoy home-ground advantage when they host Orbit College FC at the Thohoyandou Stadium on the same day. The pace-setters, Milford FC, will be away to take on Baroka FC at the Global Stadium in Lebowakgomo.

The other weekend fixtures are Highbury vs Hungry Lions, Durban City vs Pretoria University, JDR Stars vs Pretoria Callies, Upington City vs Casric Stars, and Leruma United vs Kruger United.
