Thulamela's employees take part in national inter-municipal games

Employees of the Thulamela Municipality are currently participating in the Inter-Municipal Sport of South Africa (IMSSA) Wellness Games, being held in East London from 7 to 11 October.

Gloria Makungo, the municipality’s employee wellness officer, said the competition aimed to promote teamwork, relationships, and fitness among municipal workers. “Municipal employees from different municipalities across the nation are showcasing their skills in sports like cricket, volleyball, table tennis, swimming, tennis, running, netball, aerobics, cycling, darts, fishing, golf, and tug-of-war,” she said.

Thulamela’s employees are participating in football, volleyball, table tennis, netball, aerobics, darts, and pool.

Makungo added that sports participation encouraged not only teamwork and community spirit, but also physical health and mental resilience.
