Eight teams in battle to claim ABC Foundation trophy

 

The much-awaited ABC Foundation Soccer Tournament will be staged at the Tshishivhe Grounds in the Mutale area this weekend. Eight teams from Tshilamba and the surrounding areas will battle it out for the championship.

The tournament was launched during a ceremony at the Tshishivhe Grounds last Thursday. The draw for the quarter-final matches was conducted during the ceremony. The quarter-finals will be played on Saturday, while the semi-final and final matches are scheduled for Sunday.

The first quarter-final will be between Thengwe Flying Peace and the hosts, Tshishivhe Tiger Boys, starting at 08:00. Bashasha Hungry Lions and Tshilavulu Elite will follow at 11:00. The match expected to be a crowd-puller is between Tshandama Try Together and Mulodi Freedom Birds, scheduled to start at 13:00. ABC FC will entertain Lukau Hot Aces later in the afternoon.

The draw for the semi-final matches will be conducted after the last quarter-final match on Saturday afternoon. The champions will receive R10,000, a floating trophy, and gold medals.

A cash prize of R2,000 and silver medals await the team that finishes in second place. The third-placed side will go home with R1,000 and bronze medals. According to the sponsor, Mr. Lucas Tshibalo from the ABC Foundation, the player of the tournament, best goalkeeper, top goal scorer, youngest player, and best referee will also be rewarded.
