It's time to decide who are Champs

This Saturday marks the starting point of the Safa Vhembe Regional League promotional playoff matches. The games will be played at three different stadiums. Nineteen teams that finished their league programme on top of their respective groups will do battle to determine the teams that will represent their streams in the Champ-of-Champs matches.

All the participating teams will parade in new colours. The soccer kits were presented to the participating clubs during the association’s general meeting, which was held at the Thulamela Library Hall last Saturday.

Three matches will be played at the Malamulele Stadium. That is where Langutani Blue Birds and FC Basel will test each other’s strength, starting at 09:00. Musasenda Big Five will try their luck against Matsika Shooting Stars at 13:00. The day’s programme will be wrapped up by the match between Tshamutilikwa Fire Boys and Thohoyandou Manchester United.

The same number of matches will be played at the Tshifulanani Stadium. The opening match will be between Mashamba Soccer Academy and the winner of the match between Masakona Real Citizens and Mashau Pull Together. The league’s disciplinary committee was yet to make a ruling in the matter between Mashau Pull Together and Masakona Real Citizens at the time of our going to print. Makhitha Oscar Stars and Tshikhwani Stone Breakers will follow at 13:00. The last match will be between Tshivhazwaulu Peace Makers and Univen FC.

The last batch of matches will be staged at the Tshikombani Stadium in the Nzhelele Valley. The day’s programme will be opened by the match between Berea FC and Gondeni Big Cat. Maelula United Brothers will entertain Rabali Pull Together in the second fixture. Igwe FC will meet the winner of the match between Masisi Young Stars and Anel Real Vikings. The league’s disciplinary committee was yet to make a ruling in the matter between Real Vikings and Masisi Young Stars at the time of our going to print.
