Madridtas stop Vondwe's charge

Madridtas FC managed to put a stop to Vondwe XI Bullets’ impressive record in their league matches when they unexpectedly beat them 1-0 in their ABC Motsepe League match played at the Tshifudi Stadium last Saturday.

This was Madridtas’ debut victory of the season. They shared the spoils on two occasions and lost one of the three matches they had played before Saturday’s match against XI Bullets.

The head coach of the team, Mr Patrick Ndou, was an ecstatic man after the game. He said that they had had a good game plan. Coolio, as he is affectionately called, said that he had told his players to stay within their own half and wait for the opponents to make some mistakes because he was aware that Bullets were strong in their attack.

He praised his players for not pressing the panic button when Bullets invaded their territory. He kept on telling his soldiers to continue playing defensive football as it was part of their game plan that they would punish the home side through counter-attacks.

Ndou’s counterpart from Bullets, Mr Lufuno Ndou, said that they could have won the game by a wide margin, had they managed to convert all the scoring chances they had created. He put part of the blame for their loss on the match officials and accused them of being biased.

The goal that earned Madridtas the three vital points came in the 68th minute. They were awarded a penalty after their left winger, Hulisani Mashau, was brought down within the box. Zwanga Makhadi made no mistake from the white spot.

The kit manager of Bullets, Mr Bright Tshihume, was given a red card for using abusive language towards the referee. Bullets launched some attacks towards the end of the game, but Saturday was not their day.
