Transnet’s Phelophepa Health Train back in town

Transnet’s Phelophepa Health Train will be visiting the region in June and will once again be offering a wide range of medical services free of charge or for a minimal fee to residents.

The train will be in the Makhado Municipality at the railway station in Louis Trichardt from 3 to 7 June and again from 10 to 14 June.

The primary health-care clinic on wheels will provide free healthcare education, as well as free diabetic screenings and cancer education. In addition, they will also offer free pap smears, and prostate and breast screenings. Medication will be available at R5 per prescription.

Free eye tests will also be provided, with all glasses costing R30. Eye drops will be available at R5 each. Please note that the eye clinic services do not include operations or bifocals.

Free counselling and psychology services are available to individuals and include workshops to help cope with stress, abuse, conflict, death, parenting discipline, empowerment, and working through emotions.

Dental services are also included, with free screenings and dental education. Extractions, fillings, and cleanings are available at R10 per procedure, but no dentures will be provided. All procedures for children younger than 15 years of age are free.

Andries joined the Zoutpansberger and Limpopo Mirror in April 1993 as a darkroom assistant. Within a couple of months he moved over to the production side of the newspaper and eventually doubled as a reporter. In 1995 he left the newspaper group and travelled overseas for a couple of months. In 1996, Andries rejoined the Zoutpansberger as a reporter. In August 2002, he was appointed as News Editor of the Zoutpansberger, a position he holds until today.
