'Rambo' Tshivhase passes away

The traditional leader of Tshidimbini village, Vhamusanda Vho Mulingoni Eric Tshivhase (53), better known as “Rambo” because of his prowess in various sporting codes, passed away last Saturday, 13 April.

The family spokesperson, Vho Khotsimunene Vho Avhakholwi Tshivhase, said during an interview on Tuesday morning that he had passed away after a short illness. “We are all devastated by his passing, and the whole village is in mourning. Since it happened, we have been receiving mourners from all over the province who are coming to give us support and prayers on a daily basis,” he said.

Typically, when the traditional leader passes away, people are left without leadership for months until a new leader is installed. However, Vho Avhakholwi Tshivhase said their situation was different.

“As the Tshivhase family, our senior traditional leader, Thovhele Kennedy Midiyavhathu Tshivhase, is currently leading the Tshidimbini village himself. With our own Mailausumbwa at the helm, we will never have a problem with stability in the village,” he said.

Due to his leadership qualities, the late Vhamusanda Vho Tshivhase had been leading two villages simultaneously. He was also the traditional leader of Mandala village. “People are leaving messages of condolences in Mandala village. His leadership qualities and sense of humour will be sorely missed in the Tshivhase dynasty,” Vho Avhakholwi Tshivhase said.

The late traditional leader was also an excellent footballer, known as one of the best strikers during his prime. In addition to playing for the local team, Tshidimbini Brave Lions, he had also played for Khubvi Peace Makers and Ngwenani Manchester United.
