Gruesome murder of Xitlhelani resident angers family

The family members of Grammy Mthombeni (30) from Xitlhelani village in Malamulele are struggling to come to terms with her death after she was stabbed by an unknown suspect or suspects on Saturday evening.

The mother of three was reportedly also robbed of her cellphone and an undisclosed amount of money during the incident, which occurred on the R8 road at around 18:30. Her lifeless body was discovered by a passerby.

Ms Grace Mthombeni, the mother of the deceased, expressed her grief and anger, calling for swift justice to be served. “I still cannot believe that I lost my beloved daughter, who was always helpful. We are heartbroken, and we are hoping that the police can track down the suspects and lock them up,” she said.

Mr Khazamula Chabalala, the ward councillor, said that he was still in disbelief after attending the scene. “As a leader, I am very concerned about the way she was killed. It’s very sad that we have lost a young soul in what seems like a gender-based, violence-related incident,” said Chabalala.

Limpopo police spokesperson Lt-Col Malesela Ledwaba said that the female victim had been found with multiple stab wounds and certified dead by EMS personnel at the scene. “Circumstances surrounding the incident are currently not yet known, but further police investigations will be conducted,” said Ledwaba.
