Gospel legends electrify fans with performances

Two well-known veteran gospel music artists, Bishop Fhatuwani Roxley Masevhe and Mbilu Rapson Rambuwani, had gospel music lovers eating out of their hands when they celebrated their birthdays together at Matondoni Park on Saturday.

Rambuwani, who had earlier celebrated his birthday with family members and friends at Migavhini in the Dzanani area on Saturday morning, drove to Matondoni Park after his party to join in the celebrations with the inimitable Bishop Masevhe. The two then gave music fans one of their best performances ever seen in this part of the country.

Fans danced and ululated when they performed a new duet, titled “You Cannot Touch Me Now.” The song speaks about people who harass and humiliate others out of jealousy, declaring that they can no longer be touched as they now have divine protection from the Almighty.

They also demonstrated to up-and-coming gospel artists how to perform, particularly showcasing the art of gospel music choreography on stage.

During the event, Masevhe expressed his happiness at the large turnout at Matondoni Park to celebrate his birthday. “I feel very honoured by the presence of all of you here,” he said.

Rambuwani, who is also a community radio presenter and a councillor in the Thulamela Local Municipality, said that although he had celebrated his birthday with family members and friends earlier in the day, he had to come to Matondoni Park to celebrate his elder brother's birthday. “Bishop Masevhe and I go back a long way in the music industry, and it feels good to be singing with him here,” he said.
