With only a month to go before the biggest music festival in Limpopo, the annual Phalaphala FM Royal Heritage Festival, popular Tshivenda soul-music king and veteran Phillip Nephawe says he cannot wait for the big day.

The festival takes place on 13 and 14 September 2024, starting with a gospel show at Agape City in Vuwani. The action then moves to the Royal Gardens at Nandoni Dam.

Nephawe, who performs under the stage name Mutendas, recently released a sizzling-hot album titled Makwenhu. With 25 earlier releases to the name Mutendas, three under Gearbox, and three as Musamaria, he is a sought-after performing artist. He has performed at the venue twice, with his last performance in 2016.

With his captivating stage attire, trademark walking stick, and unique dance moves, Mutendas is the darling of many Tshivenda soul-music lovers. His music also addresses topical issues that affect the community.

Regarding the upcoming show, the Dzi Taxini and Tshelede yo Fhela hitmaker promised fireworks. "It is really humbling to have been selected again for the festival. I cannot wait for the big day. As I speak, we are working hard at rehearsals. Besides my backing band, I have enlisted the services of four dancers. I am also introducing my son, Mutendas Junior, a guitar wizard, to the stage for the first time. It is going to be fire, so brace yourselves for something you have never seen before," he said.
