Nthabalala releases new gospel album

Well-known gospel singer Newie Nthabalala made a well-received comeback with the release of her latest gospel album, called “Spontaneous Worship”, earlier this month. This album is her fifth and is already making waves in the gospel music industry with tracks such as “Tanganedzani” featuring Takalani Chairo, “Livhuwani Yehovah” featuring Minister Lufuno Dagada, and “Tshigubu Medley”.

Nthabalala started devoting her time to producing gospel music at a very young age. She began singing at church during Sunday school. “I just sang along with everyone, but people remarked on my beautiful voice. That is the reason I decided to take music seriously.”

She said that too many Christians relied on their own understanding and did not invite God to be part of their everyday lives and decisions. “They fight their battles alone, forgetting to let God take care of everything and end up losing everything they do,” she said.

Nthabalala’s breakthrough in her music career taught her that one should not give up on [one’s] dreams. “It has been years since I started singing, but I had this objective of becoming a professional artist. When you have a dream, there is no need to hurry because good things come to those who wait. The most important thing is to focus and continue with what you are doing, and an opportunity will present itself,” she said.

Nthabalala said that getting airplay at various radio stations was very difficult for relatively unknown artists. “I have submitted my music to different radio stations, but they seldom play my songs, even though the feedback I get from my fans is overwhelming. But I continue to believe that, in time, my music will also be heard on radio and reach a wider audience,” she said.
