You cannot take radio out of Duka

Flavius Fhulufhelo Ratshivhombela, also known as Duka La ha Ratshivhombela, is a passionate radio enthusiast and University of Venda (Univen) graduate who currently works as a teaching assistant.

His love of radio began early in his life and became evident during his second year at Univen. He started his radio career by reading news at Kingdom FM, but the station’s closure led him to co-found an online radio station, Takalela FM, with his friend Takalani Ramunyisi.

Duka joined Nzhelele FM in 2021 but had to pause briefly to focus on his studies. He returned to the airwaves in August 2021 with Vuwani FM, hosting shows such as “Ria Vuwa,” “Rest Zone,” and “V Power”. He now hosts the “Weekend Morning Breakfast” and “Sunday Chilling” shows. Duka’s hard work and dedication have paid off; he was promoted to assistant programme manager in 2022.

Duka is inspired by DJ Complexion of Capricorn FM and aspires to reach similar heights in his career. Alongside his radio work, he runs a decorating company.

“I fell in love with radio from an early age,” Duka reminisces. “I discovered that I was meant for a life in radio while I was in my second year at Univen. My love for radio led me to discover my talent.”
