The Natty Lions release new album

The up-and-coming reggae band, The Natty Lions, released its latest music offering, a nine-track album called “Precious Mother,” on Friday, 4 August. This marks their fourth album since the group was formed in 2016.

The four-member band consists of Natty King Elijah Dombo, Ananius Begwa, Mulugisi Mamafha, and Ndivhuwo Dombo.

“Precious Mother” was produced by Elijah and Ananius. “This album is dedicated to all mothers in the world, but we wrote it especially for Mrs Vhulahani Anna Mulugisi and Mrs Takalani Anna Dombo. We decided to release it in Women’s Month because it celebrates the role that women play in giving birth and raising children all over the world,” said Elijah.

The album includes songs such as “Precious Mother” (the title track), “Ndo Fhela Maanḓa” (featuring Ras Clemy), “Hear Me Father,” “Home Mount Zion,” and “Rendan.”

Their first output came in 2017 when they released an album titled “Jah Rastafari.” They won the Best Reggae Song of the Year award for ‘Mary my Love’ from this album. In 2018, they released their second album, a four-track EP called “Legalize It”. In 2019, they won the Best Reggae Song award at the sixth annual South African Upcoming Music Awards (SAUMA) for the track “Legalize It”.

Their third album, “Huna Nḓaḓo Shangoni,” was released in 2020 and was nominated at SAUMA8 2021. In 2022, they released the “Precious Mother” single, which was nominated for Best Reggae Song at the Limpopo Music Awards 2022, as well as at the SAUMA9 2022 awards in the Best Reggae category.
