MMK champ of champs matches to start

 

The long-awaited Safa Vhembe MMK Administrators League champ of champs matches will kick off this weekend.

The winners of the nine streams have been divided into two groups. Group A's matches will be staged at the Rabali Stadium and Rabali open grounds, while group B's matches will be staged at the Makhuvha Stadium. The Stream D champions were still to be confirmed at the time of our going to press. According to the statement from the league, Tshakhuma RO United and Shayandima Disco Five appeared before the league’s appeal board on Wednesday evening, where their pending dispute over the registration of players was heard.

The opening match at the Makhuvha Stadium tomorrow morning will be between Rockers FC and Makovha All Stars at 09:00. Phandulaluvalo FC and Mpheni Home Defenders will follow at 11:00. Mpheni Home Defenders will lock horns with Rockers FC at 13:00 and Makovha All Stars will take on Phandulaluvalo FC in the last match of the day.

Two matches will be played at the same venue on Sunday. Rockers FC and Phandulaluvalo will meet at 13:00, while Makovha All Stars and Mpheni Home Defenders will rub shoulders later in the afternoon.

Saturday’s fixtures at Rabali Stadium are: Tshakhuma RO United/Shayandima Disco Five vs Mashamba Benfica (09:00); Mikhado FC vs Berea FC (11:00), Tshakhuma RO United/Disco Five vs Rambuda Young Fighters (13:00) and Berea FC vs Mashamba Benfica (15:00). Sunday’s fixtures are: Berea FC vs Rambuda Young Fighters (09:00), Mikhado FC vs Tshakhuma RO United/Disco Five (11:00), Rambuda Young Fighters vs Mashamba Benfica (13:00) and Tshakhuma RO United/Disco Five vs Berea FC (15:00).

The teams that finish on top of their respective groups will meet in the final at the Thohoyandou Stadium next Sunday, 18 June, to determine the overall champions. The overall champions will represent Vhembe Region in the provincial playoffs later this month.

The entrance fee is R10 per head at both venues.

The top two teams in the provincial playoffs will be promoted to the ABC Motsepe League.
