Bokisi Happy Boys emerged as the champions of the June16 Topisa Trust Soccer tournament when they beat Mbokota FC 3-2 in the final played last Monday at the Bokisi grounds.

The tournament caters for elderly teams, masters and U/13, U/15 and U/17 teams around the area. The tournament was sponsored by the deputy minister of finance, Dr David Masondo of Topisa Trust.

Masondo said that he was ploughing back into the community and wanted to help to develop young players from grassroots level. He said that he was a proud supporter of local football development "and we undertook this sponsorship primarily to showcase our support for the sport".

The administrator of the Makhado LFA, Mr Simon Mashele, described Masondo as "a selfless and caring community developer". He said it was painful to see that many businesspeople did not give anything back to the community.

Bokisi Happy Boys went home with a floating trophy, soccer ball and gold medals. The runners-up received silver medals and a ball.
