Chief Ndibu strikes right chord

For the past 13 years, popular Venrap artist Ndivhudzannyi Nemaungani, better known as Chief Ndibu, has consistently produced hit after hit. However, with the growing popularity of his current single “Liatsha La Kovhela,” he seem to have struck the right chord, making this potentially his biggest hit yet.

The 29-year-old musician from Maungani outside Thohoyandou collaborated with another popular Venrap artist, Easy SA, on this new project. Recorded at Chief Ndibu Productions at his home, the single was released on Friday, 1 March. Both artists showcase an exceptionally high standard of maturity in music, evident in their vocal arrangement and instrumental skills. Chief Ndibu is not only a talented musician but also an established businessman, owning a scrapyard, a second-hand car business, and a car-repair business.

“I am overwhelmed by the feedback from fans, who hailed the new single as the best thing I have ever offered. My last release, ‘Thingoni Thatha’, was in September 2023, and I thought it was the best, but I was wrong. I chose Easy SA to collaborate with me as we share the same music style, and we understand each other. I knew from the time we were recording it that it was going to make waves. The feedback I am getting from fans is amazing,” he said.

Chief Ndibu emphasised that the new single, like his previous projects, is very informative. “The message to relatives and friends is that we should assist each other when there are job opportunities. There are many graduates and skilled people who are not working. Let us not derive pleasure from seeing others suffer when we can help,” Chief Ndibu added.

Chief Ndibu began his music career in 2011 while still at school, jotting down lyrics in his spare time. His first single, “Mufunwa wanga Vhuyani”, was released the same year. Although he has collaborated with many other artists, he has never released an album or EP. His new single is available on all digital platforms.
