Rotenda's book brings hope in facing the storms

Read: 1154

Following the publication of her first collection of poems, Heyi Ndi Philamisevhe, earlier this year, Rotenda Gavhi has now also completed a motivational Christian book in English, titled Facing the Storm with Confidence.

“This book is a combination of preaching God’s Word, and testimonies of survival,” she said. “I wrote the book with the intention of uplifting people’s spirit; to activate a sense of comfort and preparation in the face of adversity.”

According to her, only through the strength and wisdom of God can humanity display resilience in the face of adversity. “We write books because God had blessed us with the gift to write,” she said. “If we do not abuse this gift by writing destructive pieces, then we know for sure that we are allowing God to use us for his purpose of motivating his children. Then it is no longer us speaking, but God speaking through us.”

She assures her readers that they will draw confidence from her book to push through even the toughest times. “After a series of dreams about me preaching the Word, I knew I had to write the book. I had to encourage others and ensure that they are ready to face the storms that are a part of this life’s journey,” she said. “I had to take this step forward into partaking in the ministry by using my gift for writing.”

Rotenda was the winner of the prestigious National Library of South Africa (NLSA) Poetry Slam in 2020, where she was awarded a publishing contract as well as a professional writing mentorship programme. Heyi Ndi Philamisevhe was the result of the writing mentorship.

Rotenda resides at Duvhuledza village and is an accounting sciences student at the Northwest University. She is also an ambassador for the New York Academy of Sciences, a graphic designer and one of the directors of the BeThatGirl foundation.
