Reiiitz bubbles with beats and tunes

Reitumetse Thipe, also known by the stage name Reiiitz, has her heart in Limpopo and most particularly in Vhembe District. This became evident when she organised some performances in the district, but all her gigs were cancelled prematurely because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

This up-and-coming singer, songwriter and performer has made a name for herself in Pretoria, and the vibrations of her music were felt in Vhembe via social media and some community radio stations that started giving her music airplay.

“My musical styles range from R&B and trap soul to hip-hop and house,” she said. “I have always wanted to be versatile when it came to genres. I did not want to be limited to only one genre. Being able to do what I want and how I want it has been part of my life. This has been amazing and an interesting learning experience for me.”

She brings an authentic feel to her music, with beautiful and intense lyrics and a sweet, smooth voice. She also has a feisty side when she turns to hip hop and trap. "Learning how to rap was a challenge, but it was really fun for me and I hope that people enjoy my music and my raps as I turn from R&B to hip hop," she said excitedly.

Reiiitz has been working with a young, up-and-coming producer and artist by the name of Kamiiichu for two years and has performed at small artist events. “It has been incredible working with such an amazing and talented, self-taught producer, who is always working on perfecting his craft,” she said.

Reiiitz studied music for a year in 2011 and the following year she studied musical theatre, graduating with a musical theatre diploma. She was part of the cast of Sarafina: In Black and White, which performed in the Soweto Theatre in 2016. She has also starred in a few local films.

"It has been incredible to be able to study musical theatre because I fell in love with the stage and I learnt how to understand the stage, the importance of stage presence and performing for an audience,” she said.

Reiiitz’s current hit single, Fell out of Love, was released on 22 May this year. She collaborated with Kamiiichu on a trap song, entitled Ride, that was released late 2019. “Fell out of love was released during the lockdown and is very close to my heart,” she said. “I believe that a lot of people can relate to this song, for it is an incredible love story expressing new-found love."

Reiiitz is available on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and she can be reached on [email protected].
