Students too clever for Seven Stars

Vhembe FET College deposited full points into their league account by beating Thembaluvhilo Seven Stars 2-1 in an MMK Funeral Services League match at Makwarela on Sunday.

As if they were going to bury their opponents alive, Vhembe scored their two goals within the first 15 minutes. Their opening goal came six minutes into the game. Mulweli Malada, who scored a brace, forced his way through the defence of Stars and blasted in a rocket from close range. Seven Stars did not throw in the towel, despite conceding the early goal.

Eight minutes later, the students increased the margin. Mulweli Malada scored his second when he beat the keeper with a volley, following a neat pass from Moses “Jack” Razwimisani. As if they were the ones who were leading, Seven Stars started to demonstrate their delaying tactics.

Seven Stars came close to scoring in the 39th minute. Sathiel Mawela was denied what everyone thought was a sure goal by the acrobatic keeper of Vhembe, Rhulani Sambo. He jumped like a well-oiled machine to pull off a great save. At that stage the fans for Seven Stars had already started celebrating.

Seven Stars pulled one back through Tendani Netshikweta. He beat the offside trap and scored easily. Rudolph Sithole of Vhembe was given his marching orders for swearing at the referee.
