Police need help to locate rape suspect

 

A man, believed to be about 35 years of age, is wanted by the Mphephu SAPS in connection with a recent rape incident in Ha-Mphaila Nzhelele.

The man has short hair, is black in complexion, fluent in Tshivenda, of medium height and slenderly built and uses a knife to threaten his victims.

According to the police statement, the unknown man allegedly raped a 22-year-old woman on 21 July. He allegedly approached his victim while she was walking and asked her name.  He later allegedly told her that he was a very dangerous man and he terrorised people and that he could severely stab her.

It is alleged that he then took the woman's bag and pushed her into the bush, after which he informed her that he wanted to rape her. He then searched the woman's hand bag and looked for money and a cell phone. The man the allegedly told her that he needed an expensive phone and a lot of money.

He then raped her and vanished into thin air; he is still at large. The incident was later reported at the Mphephu police station.

He was last seen wearing a cream-coloured long-sleeve T-shirt with blue and brown stripes and a cream-white hat (spottie). 

The police are appealing to any member of the public who might come across the suspect to call W/O Mynhardt from the Child Protection Unit on 079 5238 266 or contact the nearest police station.
