Debut gospel album for two local students

Years of hard work and dedication have finally paid off for two residents of Ngovhela village, Khangwelo and Tshilidzi.

According Tshilidzi, Khangwelo’s uncle, they started to compile their music some years ago. It was only in January this year that they felt that their music was mature enough for recording. Shortly after they were awarded a recording contract with the OBT Recording Company at Phiphidi, the two started to record their songs. Their debut gospel album, Mudzimu ndi lufuno, was released a fortnight ago.
The 10-track album is, according to Tshilidzi, dedicated to everyone, irrespective of their religious affiliation or age group.

Some of the songs which have the ingredients of becoming instant hits are the title track, Mudzimu ndi Lufuno, How excellent is Your Name and He is in control. Tshilidzi added that they were marketing the album on their own, saying arrangements to have it available at local music outlets were at an advanced stage.

Tshilidzi added, however, that the demand for the album is at this stage higher than they can supply.
He reiterated that they are worried about the fact that their music could soon fall victim to piracy before they could recoup the money  they spent towards the recording of the album. He also indicated that financial constraints was the reason for the delay to have their music recorded.

Tshilidzi is a student in civil engineering at the Vhembe FET College, while Khangwelo is studying towards a BCom degree in computer science at the University of Venda.
