The captain of Tshatshingo Potholes, Nkhumeleni Makhuvha, receives his team’s cash prize from the coordinator of the NJ Munyamela Soccer Challenge, Mr Tshililo Nengwenda.

NJ Munyamela Soccer Challenge champions

 

Tshatshingo Potholes are the 2015 NJ Munyamela Soccer Challenge champions. They beat Makwarani Frelimo Boys 1-0 in the final at the Muhuyu grounds on Sunday.

Potholes were presented with a cash prize of R2 500 during a ceremony that was held at the grounds shortly after the final. The runners-up, Makwarani Frelimo Boys, received R1 900. Maraxwe Happy Boys, who obtained the third position, were given R1 400 and Thenzheni Liverpool R1000.

Maraxwe Liverpool beat Thenzheni Liverpool 3-0 in their losers’ final match earlier that afternoon. The remaining five teams, Vondwe XI Bullets, Muhuyu XI Experience, Mudzidzidzi Stone Climber, Tshilunngwi FC and Tshipako Hotspurs, received a consolation prize of R500 each.

During the ceremony, a representative from the sponsors, Mr Tshililo Nengwenda, revealed that his company, NJ Munyamela Electrical, will continue to sponsor the tournament in the coming years, saying the sponsorship will increase with time. According to him, the 2016 champions will be presented with soccer kit and a floating trophy, as well as a cash prize. He further indicated that they were impressed by the manner in which the tournament was run this year.

The results of the semi-final matches, which were also played earlier that day, are: Tshatshingo Potholes 4, Maraxwe Happy Boys 2 and Makwarani Frelimo Boys 5, Thenzheni Liverpool 3.
