Stars and Defenders in goalless draw

The match between the Safa Vhembe MMK Administrator' League Stream E log leaders, Mpheni Home Defenders, and the other league contenders, Makhitha Oscar Stars, at the Makhitha grounds ended in a goalless draw on Sunday.

Stars initiated some promising moves from the centre of the pitch but were denied a number of scoring opportunities by the defence of their opponents. Stars were forced to make an early replacement, when their kingpin, Sydney "Mbevha" Luvhengo, got injured and was replaced by Musiwalo Mahuwa. The absence of Luvhengo was evident from the onset as there was no one to win and distribute balls from the middle of the park to the goal poachers.

Defenders threatened to score when Ndaedzo “Let Them Dance” Makheda forced his way through the defence before passing the ball to Aaron "Masuku" Lisoga. His attempt missed the target by a whisker. Moments later, Dakalo "Dairo" Nwanamidwa won the loose ball in the 35-meter area and unleashed a volley just outside the penalty box. His attempt also missed the target by inches.

Stars' front runners, Marubini Maupa and Takalani Mbekwa, did not live up to the fans’ expectations and were tightly marked.

In the second half, Stars enjoyed more ball possession, but the match ended in a stalemate with one league point to each team.
