Respected ZCC leader laid to rest

A respected leader of the Zion Christian Church (ZCC), Pastor Johannes Ratshitanga Nemavhola (105), was buried at Kutama on Sunday.

Ms Florance Mpharalala, a daughter of the pastor, described the death as a big loss to the family. "He was one of a kind, an unique person who was always ready to help every member of his family and whoever came to him for help. We have lost a great father," she added.

Mpharalala said that Pastor Nemavhola had played a uniting role in the family and they all looked up to him for advice.

Pastor Frans Rambau of the ZCC said the family, comumunity and church were in great pain after losing one of their beloved leaders. He said the community and church had lost one of its pillars who had always been working hard towards the development of the church.

"We are greatly saddened by his death, but we have to accept it because God’s will has been done. I am happy because I had the opportunity of seeing him a few hours before his death and he called my name; thereafter, he spoke about the greatness of God. He said:Rambau, a sa divhi Jehova ha divhi tshithu (Mahamba, those who do not know Jehovah know nothing). May his soul rest in peace."

Nemavhola is survived by his wife, 12 children, 35 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
