No bail for suspects in gogo Sebyene murder case

 

Three suspects accused of the rape and murder of a local gogo were denied bail in the Tshitale Magistrate's Court last Wednesday.

Happy Mohale (24), Stanley Zwidofhela Mugwena (27) and Thomas Serepa (29) are accused of the rape and murder of gogo Mojaji Sebyene (83) at Sereni last month.

After the session in court, community representative Lesley Rikhotso said the scourge of murder and rape of elderly in Vhembe had reached boiling point. Everyone must stand up and fight that all murderers be removed from the community. “If something is not done now, we are all going to perish as a result of murder. We will never rest until we win this war against these cruel people, who live on human blood.”

He added that he was happy that the suspects had been denied bail. Ms Tshifhiwa Sebyene, granddaughter of the murdered gogo, said that she was opposing bail, to make the region a safer place. “We need the justice system to make sure that the three stay in custody, so that the justice system can take its course."

The three will  appear in court again on 29 October.
