Mashudu Nemadzivhani from Makhuvha, better known as Tsilatsila Murendi, released his latest reggae poetry single “Vhutshilo” on 7 January, and if he keeps up this standard of work, a bright future undoubtedly awaits him.
Tsilatsila started his schooling at Tshilungwi Primary and completed his Grade 12 at Thathe High before he enrolled at the Vhembe FET College, where he obtained his Level 3 certificate in primary agriculture. He also obtained a certificate in creative writing from Intec College.
He first realised the depth of his zeal for music as a career in 2007 when he was a member of the Khubvi Assemblies of God Church. In 2016, he released an album titled “Mvelelo”, which contains eight tracks, including the songs “Thongozwidivha”, “Ndisinavho”, and “Nontala”. “The reason why it took so long for me to release this single after my album is simply that I gave myself some time to perfect it, taking the needs of my fans into consideration at the same time,” he said.
Tsilatsila’s goal is to encourage people of higher standing to lend a helping hand to those who are less fortunate, instead of looking down on them. He also aims to send a message of encouragement to those who are trying to find their way out of poverty, unemployment, or any other unpleasant situation, that they should not give up or be discouraged when they see their peers achieving big things.
He said that, based on the performance of his previous album, he had no doubt in his mind that his current single and all future projects would be just as successful. “I have worked hard to build a foundation for my music career over the years, and now is the time to reap the sweet fruits of my labour. People love my music because it is unique. As we have so few reggae poetry artists here in South Africa, it gives me the advantage to shine freely. I want to produce good quality music; something that my fans can listen to anywhere, whether in their cars or from their music stations at home. I am trying to cater for everyone and hope to reach a wider audience,” he said.
The single will be available on all digital platforms soon. Those who still prefer CDs will also be catered for.

After observing the many questions that children typically pose to their parents, such as those about love affairs and how to find the right partner, a well-known general medical practitioner in Thohoyandou, Dr Lutendo Samson Muremela, decided to try and answer these in a book.
