Vhomusenwa back with best gospel album yet

Read: 1543

With a music career spanning more than 20 years, Moses Musenwa, also known as “Vhomusenwa”, has made significant strides in the music industry. His inaugural album was recorded in 2002, and since then, he has produced 13 more albums - 10 in the Tshivenda traditional-music genre and four, including his latest release, in the gospel-music category.

His most recent offering, a 10-track album titled “Ndi Vhone Mulamuleli”, was officially launched on 16 December, strategically timed to coincide with the festive season, although it was released on 27 November. Musenwa, the composer of the album, collaborated with Bonginkosi Yeko, also known as DJ Mzola, the founder of the Biyeko music label, who served as the producer. Notably, two tracks on the album - “Mutsiki” and “Journey of Life” -feature Zambian artist Appear Tule Elede.

Speaking about his latest project, the musician from Haravele, outside Louis Trichardt, said that he had invested heavily in creating a powerful album. “This is one of my best gospel albums. I thank Mr Biyeko and the team behind this huge project for the effort they put in to make it what it is. The demand for the album since its release has surpassed my expectations. The captivating drums were played by Musa Makau, with Bonginkosi Yeko and Thabiso Mmethi on the keyboards, Tshilisanani behind the intoxicating guitar, while Tshima Radali played the bass guitar,” he said.

As a young boy, Musenwa spent his days herding cattle. While in the bushes, he honed his listening skills, attuning his ears to the diverse sounds of nature. Reflecting on his journey, he remarked with contentment, “I had always dreamt of becoming a popular artist, and I knew that this dream would one day become a reality. Here I am today, living my dream.”
