Slide will still be making music, but only on the side

Well-known rapper, singer, and producer Zwonaka Silidi, also known as “Mad Slide,” says that he will now only be making music on the side because of other life commitments. The 29-year-old from Tshavhalovhedzi in Nzhelele is a qualified civil engineer by day. He entered the music industry in 2007 as a freestyling emcee and has become one of the most respected musicians in the Nzhelele Valley.

During his peak in music, Slide released four hip-hop mixtapes, namely “The Parallel,” “Mushumi wa Biko,” “The Playlist,” and “Beautiful Jungle and Everywhere is a Jungle”. He has collaborated with musicians such as B-Mam, Vhole Kapinos, Mike Tuney, and Teakay, to mention just a few.

His latest offering, a single titled “Oh Ah,” was released on Audiomack on 4 December and promises to be yet another hit among fans.

Slide says music will always be a significant part of his life, but he can no longer commit to it on a full-time basis. “I am not leaving music, but I will not be a full-time musician anymore. I want my fans to know that I have many projects that I am working on, but it will take time for me to finish them as I am otherwise occupied as well. There are a few music videos and songs that I will be releasing in due time,” he says.

Slide encourages upcoming artists to focus on their education first and make music a hobby. “Education is very important, even for musicians. No one will listen to your music if the content doesn’t make sense. But, most importantly, it is very difficult to get rich from making music. The musicians who make it big out there are often linked to some secret society, which is not the honest way to go, according to me.”

Slide’s music is available on iTunes, Spotify, YouTube, Deezer, Tidal, Audiomack, and all other digital platforms.
