'He is going to kiss the floor' - Mathavha

Up-and-coming local boxer Maanda Mathavha is confident of winning his second professional fight when he meets Archibald Manala at the Thaba Moshate Casino in Burgersfort on Friday (11th).

Speaking to Limpopo Mirror after his workout at the A-Z Boxing Club in Thohoyandou on Monday morning, the straight-talking boxer from Ngudza village said he had been working very hard for this fight, as it had been difficult for him to secure an opponent.

Mathavha said that in his previous fight, he had defeated his opponent in the first seconds of the first round, and since then, no one had wanted to fight him. However, he is happy that he will finally be fighting on Friday.

He noted that all the boxers who wanted to fight him cancelled their bouts when they heard how he had won his first fight. “I turned professional in 2022, but until today, I have only fought once. I won my fight in the first round, throwing only two punches, and my opponent had to be carried out of the ring on a stretcher,” he said.

When asked about his chances of winning the fight on Friday, he expressed confidence that his opponent would regret signing a contract to face him. “I am going to win on Friday, but the only thing I don't know is whether he can absorb my punching power. One thing is for sure: he is going to kiss the ground very early in the fight,” he said.
