Dates and venues for Nedbank Cup quarter-finals confirmed

The Premier Soccer League has confirmed the dates and venues for the Nedbank Cup quarter-final matches. The long-awaited matches will be played over the next weekend, 8 to 10 April.

The first match will be between Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) and Supersport United on Friday evening (8th). Whether the match will mark the end of the road for TTM in the Nedbank Cup is something that remains to be seen. The fact that TTM are not on the safe side on the log standings is a situation that is likely to divide the team’s attention. The players must decide whether to focus on the Nedbank Cup journey or to concentrate on retention of the club’s status as an affiliate of the GladAfrica Championship League in the coming season.

The communications manager for the club, Mr Livhuwani Madzuhe, is adamant that the team will manage to retain the club’s franchise and lift the Nedbank Cup trophy again.

Asked about the team’s current position on the log standings, Mr Madzuhe appealed to the supporters not to press the panic button. He stressed the fact that the team will collect enough points in their seven remaining matches and finish their league programme in a respectable position. TTM are currently lying in the fourth position from the bottom of the log with 24 points.

The teams in the last three positions on the log standings are Jomo Cosmos, TS Sporting FC and Black Leopards respectively. TTM will host Free State Stars at the Thohoyandou Stadium in a league match this Friday afternoon.

The other Nedbank Cup quarter-final match will be between Marumo Gallants and Baroka FC at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Saturday afternoon (9 April).

On the same day, Mamelodi Sundowns will host Summerfield Dynamos at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria. This match is scheduled to start at 18:00. The last quarter-final match will be played on Sunday afternoon (10th) when Royal AM will entertain University of Pretoria FC at the Chatsworth Stadium in Durban.
