Defenders and Munaca on warpath in Motsepe clash

With only four matches remaining before the end of the season, the struggle for promotion and to escape the relegation axe will be intense among the teams campaigning under the banner of the Limpopo Stream of the ABC Motsepe League.

The Makhado Show Grounds will be the best place to be on Saturday at 15:00. That is where the much-awaited match between Munaca FC and Mpheni Home Defenders will take place. The fact that Munaca and Home Defenders are closely contesting for the league championship is reason enough for the fans to expect to watch a thriller. Home Defenders are currently shining on top of the log with 26 points from 13 outings.

The spirits are high in the Home Defenders’ camp after the team managed to crush Vondwe XI Bullets 3-0 at the High School Louis Trichardt grounds last Saturday. Munaca are lying in the third position on the log standings. Munaca have played a match fewer than Home Defenders. Should they manage to collect the maximum points in their outstanding match, Munaca will be two points behind the pace setters.

Musina United will host Mikhado FC at the Lesley Manyathela Stadium in Musina. Mikhado must win the match at all costs to enhance their chances to escape the relegation axe. Ikwasha Fhedzi, as they are also known, are currently perched in the second-last position on the log standings.

After donating league points to Ablex United, to whom they lost 0-2 at the Xikukwani Stadium outside Giyani last Saturday, Giyani Happy Boys are gearing up for another home match. They will host Blackpool FC at the same venue on Saturday. Things are moving from bad to worse in the Blackpool camp. The team from Rabali village in the Nzhelele Valley are currently languishing at the bottom of the log with nine points.

Ablex United will meet Emmanuel FC at the Makhado show grounds at 13:00. Ablex United must win the match to keep their title hopes alive. Ablex are lying in the second position, only three points behind the log leaders, Mpheni Home Defenders. United have a match in hand. The other fixtures are: Mighty FC vs Eleven Fast Tigers, Ngwabe City Motors vs Magezi FC, Phinnet City vs Ditlou FC and The Dolphins FC vs Dennilton Callies.
