TTM confident of being promoted

Thembi Nevhulamba, top striker of Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM), is adamant that his club will be campaigning in the Absa Premiership Division next season. With six matches remaining before the end of the current season, Nevhulamba is confident that nothing will stop them from achieving their set goal.

Asked whether their aim was to gain automatic promotion or through the promotional playoffs, the 31-year-old killer striker said everything was still possible for them. He said their priority was to go straight to the elite division, but should they fail to do that, they would settle for the promotional playoffs.

He further said that lifting the league trophy at the end of the season was still possible for them, even though the pace setters, Ajax Cape Town, were 10 points ahead of them.

Nevhulamba reiterated that he knew only 18 points were left to play for in their remaining six matches. He said they were going to beat Ajax Cape Town, who are seven points ahead of them, when they meet them at the Thohoyandou Stadium in one of their six remaining fixtures.

He indicated that Ajax were going to drop more points as they were still to play against the top four teams, Swallows FC, Uthongathi FC, JDR Stars and TTM.

When asked about the possibility that the league might declare the current season null and void, Nevhulamba said that the decision would be a big blow to the clubs that were in the promotion zone, including TTM.

While he agreed that nullifying the season would be a blessing in disguise to the relegation candidates, Royal Eagles, Jomo Cosmos, Mbombela United and TS Sporting, Nevhulamba was adamant that allowing the teams to play their remaining matches would be a fair decision.

Nevhulamba, who scored eight goals for TTM this season, said that no team would stop them if they managed to secure a place in the promotional playoffs.

He restated his wish to see Black Leopards move out of the relegation zone, saying he would not like to meet them in the promotional playoffs. The former Black Leopards and Magezi FC forward said he spent much of his time doing some light training within the yard at his home to keep fit in order not to be caught off guard when the lockdown was lifted. He stays at Domboni village in the Niani area.

Nevhulamba appealed to the people to stay indoors to mitigate the spread Covid-19.
