Victory at last for Diski Leopards

The Multichoice Diski Challenge Black Leopards finally rose to the occasion and beat Baroka FC 3-2 in their league match at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday. The young Lidoda Duvha played 23 league matches without tasting victory before their match last Saturday.

Although they managed to collect the maximum points at the expense of Baroka, Black Leopards are still languishing at the bottom of the log with 10 points accumulated from 24 outings. Whether Black Leopards will manage to maintain this form in their future matches remains to be seen.

The team’s head coach, Mr Mongezi Bobe, is adamant that their victory against Baroka was the turning point of their misfortunes. The Thohoyandou outfit will fly to Cape Town tomorrow. Their match against Stellenbosch FC will be played at the Ida’s Valley Stadium.

While Stellenbosch will be fighting it with the aim of finishing their league programme within the top-eight bracket, Leopards must win the match to move out of the danger zone.

In the other Diski Challenge league matches that will also be played tomorrow, Maritzburg United will host Bidvest Wits in Pietermaritzburg. SuperSport United will travel to Port Elizabeth where they will play against Chippa United. Baroka FC will host Highlands Park at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane and Kaizer Chiefs will host Cape Town City at the Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto in one of the four matches that will be played on Sunday.

Orlando Pirates will entertain Lamontville Golden Arrows, Polokwane City will visit Amazulu in Durban and Mamelodi Sundowns will lock horns with Bloemfontein Celtic at the Lucas Moripe Stadium outside Pretoria.
