Friendly netball games for festive season

A group of netball teams in the Kutama and Sinthumule areas decided to come up with a plan to keep young girls busy with sports this festive season and during the long holidays.

“We are hosting these matches in different villages within the Kutama and Sinthumule areas during the remainder of this year,” said Cllr Mavhimbi Mashamba. “We would like to extend our invitation to any other interested netball clubs within the Makhado municipal area to contact us.”

The first matches were played at Magau village on Saturday and the netball teams that played are Madombidzha Celtic Netball Club, Magau Netball Club, and The Other Venue (Zamenkomste).

One of the girls, Khuthadzo Thovhakale, of Magau Netball Club, said that the girls accepted the opportunity to play netball during the festive season with both hands. “The matches will not only keep us busy, but we get to exercise, have fun and socialise with other like-minded girls,” she said.

Those interested in this project can contact Cllr Mashamba on 079 054 7247.
