Another clean audit for SAFA Vhembe

As usual, the Safa Vhembe Regional Football Association got a clean audit in the soccer season that ended on 30 June 2019. This was revealed during the association’s annual congress held at the Munakisi Hall in Muledane on Sunday morning.

When addressing the delegates from the four local football associations, the president of the association, Mr George Kubayi, stated that his region was still the biggest in terms of the affiliated member clubs.

He said that the region failed to promote a team to the ABC Motsepe League last season as the team that represented the Safa Vhembe Region in the provincial playoffs, Mpheni Home Defenders, had not made the grade in the annual event.

Kubayi further stated that his region was still financially stable, despite the financial constraints that many institutions and organizations were going through.

He added that his association had distributed about R1 million in cash prizes to the 162 clubs that had been affiliated to the association last season.

According to Mr Kubayi, the association’s disciplinary committee dealt with 90 cases in the last soccer season. The cases ranged from assault on match officials, failure to provide adequate security to abandonment of games, failure to honour official fixtures and the use of improperly registered players.

According to him, the only club that appealed against the association’s disciplinary committee’s decision was Matangari Rising Stars. Unfortunately for Rising Stars, their appeal was dismissed with costs.

He further revealed that his region had produced eight match commissioners over the past years, six of whom were doing duty in the ABC Motsepe League while Lufuno Nemagovhani and Rudzani Mulaudzi were PSL match commissioners.

He also mentioned that the region had produced three referees who were officiating in PSL matches. The three referees doing the association proud at professional level are: Olani Kwinda, Jelly Chabani and Khamusi Razwimisani.
