Leopards ready to maul Supersport

Now that Black Leopards are out of the Telkom Cup Competition, their primary focus will be on the league title. The club’s spokesperson, Mr Berry Ramunenyiwa, confirmed this after their 5-6 defeat against Highlands Park at the Makhulong Stadium in Thembisa last Sunday.

Black Leopards will play against Supersport United in their Absa Premiership League match at the Lucas Moripe Stadium outside Pretoria this evening (Friday), starting at 20:00. A win against Supersport United is likely to push Lidoda duvha from the 13th to the sixth position on the log. Leopards have deposited 8 points into their league account to date, while Highlands Park, who are in the sixth spot, have accumulated 11 points from the six matches they have played so far.

Leopards are still to win an official match under the guidance of the new head coach, Mr Luc Eymael. They lost 1-2 to Mamelodi Sundowns in his debut match with the Thohoyandou outfit before suffering a 5-6 defeat at the hands of Highlands Park last weekend.

Leopards will be without their right back, Khuliso Mudau, when they face Matsatsantsa this evening. Mudau was given his marching orders in their game against Highlands Park. The likes of Joseph Mhlongo, Karabo Tshepe and Mwape Musonda are expected to do the job in the absence of Mudau.

According to Mr Ramunenyiwa, the team’s skipper, Thabo Matlaba, has recovered fully from an injury and he was ready to kick the ball tonight.

Cape Town city will lock horns with Maritzburg United at the Cape Town Stadium. Lamontville Golden Arrows will have a date with Polokwane City at the Princess Magogo Stadium in Durban tomorrow afternoon. Orlando Pirates will fly to Cape Town where they will fight for league points with Stellenbosch FC at the Athlone Stadium. Highlands Park are preparing themselves for a tough game against Chippa United at the Makhulong Stadium in Thembisa. Mamelodi Sundowns will lock horns with Kaizer Chiefs at the Lucas Moripe Stadium outside Pretoria in one of the two matches that will be played on Sunday. Baroka FC will play against Amazulu FC at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
