Tshikota High performed admirably once more when they won the provincial final of the Sanlam Kay Motsepe Cup at the Polokwane on Saturday.

They beat Detlalemeso High School from the Capricorn region. Tshikota received R100 000 and they are going to compete against the winners of the eight other provinces for the R1 million prize money in South Africa's richest school competition.

The coach of Tshikota High, Mr Justice Matloga, expressed his joy with the school’s performance this year. He added that their preparations were well underway “and my boys are looking forward to this challenge”.

Matloga said their aim was to use the tournament to get access to the national championship. “The competition is about pride and honour,” he said, adding that this was the second consecutive year that they had made it to the national final. “We are proud of it and we want to keep the tradition going.”

He said that the players were highly motivated after they had won the provincial final.
