Leopards must get campaign on the road

If Black Leopards are serious about finishing their league programme in an admirable position, they must start collecting points this weekend. Lidoda Duvha will entertain Highlands Park in their Absa Premiership League match at the Thohoyandou Stadium tomorrow afternoon.

The Thohoyandou side are still to deposit a point in their league account as they lost both matches that they have played to date. Their first defeat was a 0-1 loss to Polokwane City at the Thohoyandou Stadium three weeks ago. They lost by the same margin to Kaizer Chiefs at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban a fortnight ago.

When asked about their state of readiness for the game, the Leopards’ captain, Thabo Matlaba, said that the spirit was high in the camp. He further stated that all his teammates were available for selection, saying the squad was boasting a clean bill of health.

Should he be given a chance tomorrow, the former Black Leopards right back, Marks Munyai, will have a point to prove to his former employers. Munyai’s contract with Leopards expired at the end of last season. He came on as a substitute and was instrumental when his side beat Orlando Pirates 1-0 in their MTN 8 KO competition match last Saturday.

The Leopards’ defenders, Pentjie Zulu, Chris Katjiukua and Isaac Masia, will have the mammoth task to stop the Park’s forwards in Mothobi Mvala, Peter Shalulile and Rodney Ramagalela.

The other fixtures for tomorrow are: Lamontville Golden Arrows vs Chippa United and Kaizer Chiefs vs SuperSport United. Sunday’s matches are Stellenbosch FC vs Maritzburg United and Baroka FC vs Bloemfontein Celtic.
