Cricket Club looking for players

Youths from Tshakhuma and the surrounding villages who wish to play cricket can join a club based at Tshakhuma village, Tshakhuma Tshashu Cricket Club.

The club is ready to teach interested youths how to play cricket from scratch. The club was founded in 2014. According to the founder member of the club, Mr Oscar Mushiana, the club had 22 players when it was formed.

He said that some of the players lost interest in sport and consequently dropped out along the way. The club has 15 registered players now. According to him, it becomes difficult for them to compete in tournaments as they are forced to field the same players throughout the tournament. That, according to him, is the reason why they had not won any silverware to date.

He stated that the only time they came close to lifting a trophy was when they lost to Musina Cricket Club in the final in 2017. He added that they were busy with their preparations for the Vhembe Annual Tournament that will be staged at the Cloud’s End Hotel grounds in Louis Trichardt on Saturday, 31 August.

Mushiana further said that, apart from the players who were needed as a matter of urgency, the club was desperately in need of sponsorship. The team share the Tshisimani Sport Field with a local football club.

The youths who wish to join the club can phone Mr Mushiana on 065 993 0869. The same applies to businesspeople who wish to sponsor or donate anything to the club.
