Tshamutshedzi Water Sand scrape through

Tshamutshedzi Water Sand scraped through to the final of the Boy Nemakonde KO competition by beating Munangwe United Brothers 2-1 at the Tshifudi Stadium on Saturday.

As if they were going to bury Water Sand alive, United Brothers approached the game with a lot of self-confidence. They threatened to score six minutes into the game. Their diminutive striker, Example Chauke, went loose from the left corner and ran straight towards the keeper. He unleashed a half volley from the edge of the box. The ball hit the woodwork and bounced outside the field of play for a goal kick.

That was a wakeup call to the defenders of Water Sand. They regrouped from behind, with their midfielders dishing out promising passes to the strikers.

Water Sand took the lead in the 38^th minute. Their overlapping midfielder, Godfrey Nephawe, forced his way through the defence of United Brothers and sent the keeper the wrong way.

Water Sand enjoyed the 1-0 lead until the end of the first half.

Velmon Mudzanani scored the second goal for Water Sand from the free kick in the 68^th minute. United Brothers’ solitary goal came via Hudivhannyi Munyai in the dying minutes of the game.
