Teams ready MJN Foundation tournament

 

The MJN Foundation soccer and netball tournament will take place at Tshiozwi on Saturday and Sunday.

The secretary of the MJN Foundation, Mr Leonard Mavhandu, said that identifying future stars at grassroots level was important. He applauded the sponsors for helping to identify the talent in the region.

Adv Max Sikhutshi said the area was very grateful for a tournament of this magnitude. "We believe it came at the right moment as it will keep people occupied during this period of the year,” he said.

The winner of the competition will receive R10 000, a floating trophy, a new soccer kit and gold medals, while the runners-up will receive R5 000, a soccer kit and silver medals. The team that will finish in third position will go home with R3 000 and bronze medals. The team ending fourth will receive R2 000.

The champions of the netball competition will get R3 000, gold medals, a netball kit, and a trophy, while the runners-up will get R2 000, netball kit and silver medals.

The fixtures for the first soccer matches on Saturday at the Tshiozwi Dynamos grounds are: Manavhela Black Aces vs Matanda Rockers at 09:00; Greenway Academy vs Mauluma Black Mamba at 12:00, Magau United vs SSD at 13:00 and Ablex vs Zamenkomste FC at 15:00.

On Sunday, Tshiozwi Mates will meet Tshiozwi Dynamos at 10:00, followed by Madombidzha Chris United vs Ravele Highlanders. The winners will play their second match at 15:00.

Matches at Tshiozwi Mates grounds are: Ravele Black Dragons vs Madombidzha Try Again at 10:00 and Mira Blackpool vs Gogobole Bucs at 12:00. The winners will play their second match on 15:00.

At the time of our going to press, the netball fixtures were not available yet.
